“You dial it, it activates and then you can walk thru,” she said looking again at the large ring standing before her. The technician nodded, “That’s the basics, once the wormhole is established you and the supply crew can go on thru, nothing to it,” ‘Yea… nothing to it,’ she thought, walking back to the table she had left her bag on. ‘You just have to walk thru space into a unknown place,’ she double-checked that she had everything she needed in her bag before she pulled on her black uniform jacket.
She heard the sounds of the Gate starting up, Kata turned and watched as one after another Chevrons began to light up till the address was locked in, then the center of the disk expanded outward with a bubble of water then quickly sucked back inward, leaving only what appeared to be a smooth puddle. A few people emerged from the Gate, while other in the room Kata was in walk through it, ever so slowly she walked to the bottom of the ramp that was before the Gate, “Get moving Harris, we are trying to save power this go around…” a Army guy called to her. Keeping her eyes on the shimmering blue before her, a cart of supplies rolled past her and into the blue, ‘Event Horizon, it was called?’ she thought stepping into it.
It wasn’t as bad as she though it would be, she still had her head and major appendages attached to her body, and her brain wasn’t a pile of slime on the floor. Kata blinked and looked around the room she now stood in: even with the Gate active people moved around as if it was apart of every day life, most of them were on a platform that overlooked the room, while others were helping to unload the supplies from the cart that Kata had followed thru. “Toto we defiantly aint in Kansas anymore…” she said to herself, as she turned to look up at the Atlantis Gate: it looked different than the one she just walked thru, as a matter of fact, a lot of things looked different that earth.

Sheppard stood outside, hands on the balcony as he surveyed the surrounding area. There were a lot of dangers in this new and frightening world, as he had quickly come to realise. He tried not to dwell on the past, it was never good to dwell... In fact, he was even lucky enough to get a distraction, as he saw that far below, a few balconies down, came the familiar cursing of his genius team mate - not that he was ever able to say that of course. It was so easy for that Rodney of there’s to get a big head. He grinned, he didn’t even bother trying to figure what was bothering the other any more – after all, there was always something. "Oye! You’ll wake the neighbours” He joked "Oh mind your own business” Came the grumbled reply, he was about to come up with another retort when the speaker he always wore around his ear suddenly crackled into life. "John Sheppard to the control room, I repeat, John Sheppard to the control room” "I hear you, I’m coming” He replied, and turned from the balcony, throwing one last look over his ear as he walked out, the grumbles of his friend fading in the distance.
Still in a good mood he walked towards the teleporter – honestly, the city was just to big to rely on any other means of transport – which was foot. He pressed the button and the doors closed. They opened moments later and he strolled out, nodding his head to a few mates from his military unit before proceeding down the steps until he was by the gate.
Before him, were people moving about busily. There was chuck up at the controls, and there civilian leader standing with her arms crossed at the window by her office. He nodded his head at her and she smiled back. He held her in high respect – even if he was always one to question orders.
He wasn’t entirely sure why he had been called up here, through. The unloading seemed basically sorted, with men and woman walking back and forth with the supply boxes. No, it must be meeting the new people, where any of them going to join his forces? Well, it certainly did no good to look out the loop. He gave a cherry smile and walked towards the most likely candidate out of the new arrivals. “Hay there, and welcome to the lost-and-found city of the ancients, welcome to Atlantis” He called out to Kata as he walked before her and held out his hand in a cherry greeting.

"Lost now found.... I'd never think it was possible, but apparently it is." Kata replied shaking the mans hand. She looked around again at the new area then back to her greeter, "Captain Kata Harris," she said introducing herself, "The guys at Command didn't tell me who was in charge here, mind sharing that?" she smiled.

John Sheppard was still smiling warmly as she took his hand and he gave it a few warm shakes before dropping it back to his side and picking up a slightly leaning stance as he listened to her words. Lost now found... that was certainly one way to explain this extraordinary city, built by the first generation of this form – what humans call the Ancients. Woops... he realised he hadn’t even said his name – only a welcome, when she gave her own name. He nodded his head in response to that. “Pleasure to meet you, Captain Kata Harris, I’m Sheppard, Lt. colonel John Sheppard” He introduced himself with that easygoing smile of his, ready to answer her next question as it came. “Of course, that would be our civilian officer – Dr Elizabeth Weir, well I command the military here” Was his easy enough explanation, but he now knew that she wasn’t quite in the loop to the running’s of the Atlantis expedition. He looked up and gave a wave to Dr Weir, before nodding his head towards the main steps away from the gate. “If you like I could give you a tour of the place and explain a few things?” He asked gently – he knew what it was like, to only half knowing some massive secret. Chances where that she would be just as eager as the next person to find out about this place. Not that everything was lollipops and candy-canes. There was the horrible, and ever so realistic thread of the Wrath in this universe. Somewhat expectantly, Sheppard had begun moving towards the stairs he had nodded towards. He had made sure that he had weir’s attention before doing so. That way if there was something else he was supposed to do here, she would be sure to inform him. He turned slightly now – just to make sure that she was happy enough to follow after them.

Kata saluted the Colonel after he informed her of his name, she didn’t know if he saw her do the gesture. She followed Shepherd down the stairs: the Gate she had been standing in front of shut off, ending the wormhole with Earth. She nodded to Weir as she passed, then continued walking to catch up to Sheppard, “For someone to explain a few things would be nice, I was only given a over view of what goes on here, like how the Gate system works and what not, nothing much about this city…”.
